"John of God"- real or not?

Good morning :)

I am in school today as I have some interviews for my thesis but I wanted to take a minute and share something that I learned about last night. I really like Oprah and her topics and so I had downloaded some episodes a while ago. Last night, I decided to watch one called "Believe in miracles" and it was quite interesting. It was about a man in Brazil who heals people and says his power or gift comes from God. There was lots of footage and he also performs some minor surgeries like making cuts to "remove" the illness or depression etc... he calls them spiritual surgeries. He doesnt use any steralisation or anaestatics and the "patients" say that they feel no pain and are totally calm. Part of the healing is a long meditation in a room with hundreds of people. Witnesses say that they could feel the energy of all the people in the room and it seemed as this big amount of faith and hope from everyone changed them. They felt lighter, happier and just different, they cant really explain it. However, they all agree that spiritual power is something that needs to be researched in much more to understand it better. It seems that we all give some sort of energy and if we combine it, it can "make things happen".

Now, I am not a religious person but I do believe in the power of the mind and the power of words. I find this very interesting, because I myself have witnessed moments that were so full of energy and that changed me.
Another interesting thing that was said was, that maybe we are all more than we think, that maybe our looks are just suits but inside is something much more important. That we all matter, because we are all carrying some sort of energy and if we come to understand that we need each other to combine these energies, then maybe the world would look different...

There were some documentaries made about this man, called "John of God".
And if you want to know more, here are some sites:

So what do you think? Possible or a lie?

Have a good day :)

Jo
